Law history teacher Mr. Dooley has officially been named the new head coach of the Jonathan Law boys basketball team.

Dooley is replacing Mr. Hoggatt, who had to give up coaching basketball when he became the Jonathan Law athletic director.

This will be Dooley’s first head coaching job. Dooley previously was an assistant coach at Choate Rosemary Hall and at Kolbe Cathedral.

History teacher Mr. Zuraw will remain as the varsity assistant and the junior varsity boys’ basketball coach.

Many Law basketball players are excited that Dooley is the head coach.

“I think this is going to be a successful season,” said senior Jokari Trueheart. “A big turnaround from last year and I think he can bring a lot to the team.”

Dooley also has other basketball experience. He has played collegiately at the division III level at Manhattanville College.

“I am really excited to have Mr. Dooley as our new coach for the upcoming season,” said senior Jason Binder. “I think he has to experience and knowledge to bring a lot to this team, and be a really good coach.”

Last year the boys’ basketball record was 4-16. This year, all the boys have high hopes and want to improve on their record from last year. They want to make states and make a good run in the state tournament

“I am extremely excited to be a part of the Law Basketball program,” said Dooley. “I cannot wait to work with the players and I look forward to having a successful season.”

The boys will kick off their 2011-2012 season at North Haven on December 14.
